The program

  • Program name: Gale visit texts.
  • What it is: appointment text messages for visits a patient booked with a clinician practice that uses Gale.
  • Who sends it: Gale Care Inc., a Delaware corporation, at https://www.gale.care, on behalf of the clinician practice the patient booked with.
  • Who receives it: patients of those practices, only after the patient agreed.
  • Support: support@gale.care.

What the texts are

  • Appointment reminders, usually 3 days, 1 day and 2 hours before a visit, each with a way to confirm, ask for another time or keep a video visit.
  • A confirmation when a visit is booked, moved or canceled, the link to join a video visit, and a note if your clinician is running late.
  • A forms reminder: a link to forms your clinic asked you to fill in, and, if they are not finished before the visit, a reminder with how many are left.
  • A bill: the amount due and a link to pay, or a note that a card was declined for that amount and nothing was charged.
  • A waitlist opening, if you are on a clinic's waitlist: the time that opened and a link to take it, and a note if someone took it first.
  • A link to a card-on-file step your clinic sent you, and a one-time sign-in code you ask for.
  • A note that you have a new message in your Client Portal. The text never carries the message itself.

Texts never carry a diagnosis, a score or a lab result. They carry logistics only: the clinician's name, a time, sometimes an office name, a link or a code, and for a bill the amount due. Gale sends no marketing or promotional texts. Most texts say they come from Gale and, except for a one-time sign-in code, end with how to stop. A forms reminder is shorter than the rest; STOP works on every text all the same.

Examples of the texts, with an example clinician and example links. The link in a real text belongs to one visit:

How you agree

You agree in one of three places, and it is never a condition of getting care. The first is the box on the check-in page. It covers texts and email about your appointments and bills, starts unchecked, and is not bundled with any other agreement:

“Text and email me about my appointments and bills. Msg and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.”

The second is your own settings in the Client Portal. The third is telling your clinic, who record that you agreed out loud, with the date and who recorded it. Gale keeps the date, where you agreed and the wording you saw. You can say no, or stop later, and still get care.

See the step itself: a sample of the opt-in page and a screenshot of it (PNG).

Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Below it, a line says message frequency varies and names Gale Care Inc. as the sender, with links to the text terms, the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service.

How often

Reminder texts: at most 1 a day to a number. Waitlist openings and forms requests: at most 1 a day to a number, together. None of these are sent between 9 PM and 8 AM in your time; a held text waits until morning or goes by email instead. Texts about a visit you booked, moved or canceled, and a one-time code you ask for, are not held for quiet hours. Message frequency varies with how many visits you have.

Cost

Message and data rates may apply. Gale does not charge you for the texts. Your mobile carrier may charge for messages or data under your plan.

Stop, help and start

  • STOP (also END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, QUIT, STOPALL): Gale stops texting that number at once, for every clinic, and sends one text to confirm.
  • HELP: Gale replies with what the texts are and how to reach support.
  • START: turns texts back on for a number that stopped them.
  • To change or cancel a visit, call your clinic, or use the link in your reminder. Texting STOP does not cancel a visit.

For help you can also write to support@gale.care. Emails from Gale carry an unsubscribe link, and the notices the law requires still come.

Your number stays private

Mobile information and text-messaging consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Gale does not sell them either. A mobile number goes only to the clinic you booked with, the messaging provider and carriers that deliver the texts, and the providers that host Gale's database, and to no one else except where the law requires. The Privacy Policy section Text messages says the same.

Carriers and delivery

Texts are for US mobile numbers. Carriers and the messaging provider are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages, and delivery is not guaranteed. Gale may change these terms; the current version is on this page, with its date at the top.
