What prescribing does not do yet
Summary
Nothing transmits. No prescription you draft or sign in Gale reaches a pharmacy, because Gale is not connected to the pharmacy network yet. The PDMP is not queried, interactions are not checked, and fill status is not read. Record the prescription in Gale so the chart is right, then send it by the route your practice already uses.

Nothing transmits
Nothing you draft or sign in Gale reaches a pharmacy today: Gale is not connected to the pharmacy network yet. There is no setting that changes it and no account that is exempt.
A script you draft and sign exists only in this chart. Write it in Gale so the chart and the note are right, then send it by the route your practice already uses — and tell the patient by that route, not by this one.
If you have been reading these screens as a working prescribing system, stop here and read the rest of this page before your next visit.
Not queried is not nothing found
Three answers come back from Gale that look like results and are not:
| What was asked | What comes back | What it does not mean |
|---|---|---|
| The prescription drug monitoring programme | not queried | It never says not found. Nothing was asked, so nothing was learned. |
| Drug-to-drug interaction | not checked, naming the licensed source Gale does not hold | Not the same as no interaction. |
| Fill status and medication history | not queried | Not evidence that a patient did not fill. |
The distinction is kept deliberately in the words. Nobody asked and it is not there are different facts about a patient, and a chart that blurs them misleads the next person to read it.
A PDMP obligation in your state is not discharged by anything on this screen. Run the check where you run it today, and record it there.
A cancel is not a cancellation
Cancelling a prescription in Gale records the cancel on the chart. It reaches no pharmacy, because nothing reached one in the first place.
A medication a patient is actually taking is not stopped by anything you do here.
What does work today
Real, running against the chart, no vendor involved:
- writing and recording a prescription, including the three-script Schedule II sequence;
- the pending-order queue and the signing block;
- allergy checking against this patient's own recorded list, which is Gale's own data and needs nobody's licence;
- the dose references, including the age of the recorded weight;
- the whole EPCS designee and grant ceremony, end to end;
- opening a signing session and being handed to the prescribing service.
That adds up to a complete prescribing record and a complete audit trail, with the last step missing.
Why, and what would change it
No prescription reaches a pharmacy until a business associate agreement with the prescribing service is signed. That is the standing rule for every outside processor here, not a setting anyone forgot to flip. One adapter is registered and it is synthetic; there is no second one to switch to.
When the contract and the agreement land, a real adapter registers and the switch opens for one practice at a time. No date is promised on this page, and this page changes when it happens.
If a screen ever tells you otherwise
Then one of them is wrong, and it matters enough to stop.
The prescribing screen states this at the top, beside the draft control, and again on every prescription row — three times on purpose, because a single banner is the thing a busy reader scrolls past. If you find a surface that implies a script was sent, report it rather than working around it.
