I told my friend I've been feeling off lately
SaveI typed it three times before sending it to my best friend, that lately I just feel off and don't know why. I keep tearing up over nothing, then feel stupid. There's a gray filter over everything now. Part of me thinks it's too small to bring to anyone.

What this can feel like
I typed it out three times before I sent it. 'lately i just feel kind of off and idk why.' To my best friend, over text, because I couldn't say it out loud. It's only been a couple weeks, I think. I keep tearing up over dumb things, a song, a commercial, nothing, and then I feel stupid for crying. I'm 14, and I'm mostly still doing everything, going to school, laughing at lunch, but there's this gray filter over all of it now that wasn't there before. My friend wrote back really fast and said she's had times like that and that I should maybe talk to the counselor, that it's not a big deal to go. It helped that she didn't make it weird. I haven't gone yet. Part of me thinks it's too small to bring to anyone, like it's not bad enough, other people have real problems. But part of me is scared that if I wait it'll get heavier, because I can already feel it wanting to. I don't want to be dramatic. I just don't want to feel gray.
What's a first step I can take?
Ask what the gray filter changes about her day. Invite her to picture the easiest way to start with the counselor.
